misison and justice issues
Recently our youth have chosen to focus on two main justice issues, housing and the environment. As we have studied these issues, we have come across some really good activities and resources. We will link you to them through this page. We hope that the learning we have done will be able to expand into the world as others explore these resources.
housing
As a church family we are lucky. While some of us have experienced housing insecurity in these tough economic times, we have adequate shelter. We have a wish that all people could have adequate shelter and we work towards a day when our wish will come true.
partner organizations
To tackle housing injustice, we have worked mostly through Amor Ministries.
AMOR's Legacy of Hope
Since 1980, Amor's mission has remained the same. God has called us to build
his Church. We do that by responding to the spiritual and physical poverty in
the world by empowering groups and individuals to participate in an Amor Mission
Trip, a house building mission trip.

And the solution they have found for addressing it.
We have also done one-day events through Habitat for Humanity Silicon Valley.
Over the past 26 years Habitat for Humanity East Bay/Silicon Valley has served over 380 families in Alameda, Contra Costa, and Santa Clara counties by providing affordable homeownership opportunities to low-income families.

The Environment
Genesis tells us that when God created the heavens and the earth God immediately saw that it was good. We see that the earth is good, too. And we strive to participate in activities that promote and protect God's creation.
Partner organizations
To work for the good of God's creation we have partnered with both Sanctuary One and Lassen National Volcanic Park.
Sanctuary One is a care farm in Oregon. Their motto is: People, Animals, and the Earth, better together. Care farming is the therapeutic use of farming practices. Care farms also provide schools and other groups with a variety of service-learning opportunities.
Sanctuary One demonstrates how farming for health can be a cheap, natural, and effective means of healing people; how animals can be treated humanely and honored for their intrinsic physical and spiritual value; and how the environment that sustains us all can be steadily improved through organic and permaculture-inspired farming practices.

Lassen National Volcanic Park is part of the national park system. It is located about 4 hours northeast of Los Altos. National Parks preserve open space for future generations, allowing us a place where we can connect with nature in a meaningful way and a place where nature can exist less inhibited by humans.
